Free Crochet Pattern: Easter bunny with a big heart 


My intention for this year was, to be in time with seasonal patterns. Well, I think I am getting closer slowly 😉 But as it is quickly done, I am sure you can still crochetthis bunny for easter. And of course I wish you a great holiday with this post. But, let’s stop talking and start crocheting:

You need:

Cotton yarn in two shades (one for the body, one for the heart and the tail). I used aran weight for my bunny

Slightly too small hook, I used a 3.0 size

Soft filling

Embroidery needle

Abbreviations used:

sc = single crochet

inc = increase

dec = decrease

Head and body 
1. R: 6 sc into magic ring

2. R: 6 inc (12 sc)

3. R: [sc, inc] 6x (18 sc)

4. R: [2 sc, inc] 6x (24 sc)

5. R: [3 sc, inc] 6x (30 sc)

6. – 8. R: 30 sc

9. R: 10 sc, knitstitch (pull heart-coloured yarn through and finish stitch with main colour), 19 sc

10. R: 9 sc, 3 knitstitches, 18 sc

11. R: 8 sc, 5 knitstitches, 17 sc

12. R: 7 sc, 7 knitstitches, 16 sc

13. R: 7 sc, 7 knitstitches, 16 sc

14. R: 7 sc, 3 knitstitches, sc, 3 knitstitches, 16 sc

15. R: 8 sc, 2 knitstitches, sc, 2 knitstitches, 16 sc

16. – 17. R: 30 sc

18. R: [3 sc, dec] 6x (24 sc)

19. – 21. R: 24 sc

22. R: [2 sc, dec] 6x (18 sc)

23. R: [sc, dec] 6x (12 sc)

24. R: 6 dec (6 sc)

25. R: 6 inc (12 sc)

26. R: [ sc, inc] 6x (18 sc)

27. R: [2 sc, inc] 6x (24 sc)

28. R: [3 sc, inc] 6 x (30 sc)

Cut yarn and sew up the end

14. R: [7 sc, dec] 2 x (16 sc)

19. R: [6 sc, dec] 2 x (14 sc)

Cut yarn and sew ear to the head with it
Arms (2 x)
1. R: 6 sc into magic ring

2. R: 6 inc (12 sc)

3. – 4. R: 12 sc

5. R: [sc, dec] 4x (8 sc)

6. – 12. R: 8 sc

Cut yarn and sew arm to body
Foot (2 x)
1. R: 6 sc into magic ring

2. R: 6 inc (12 sc)

3. – 6. R: 12 sc

7. R: [4 sc, dec] 2 x (10 sc)

8. R: press flat and crochet 5 sc so that the front part of the foot is closed. Continue in rows

9. – 10. R: 5 sc

11. R: dec, sc, dec (3 sc)

12. R: from now on you work in rounds again going up and building the leg. In order to do so do 3 sc st the side of the foot, 3 sc across the middle of the foot, 3 sc at the other side and 3 sc at the back (12 sc)

13. R: 12 sc

14. R: 2 inc at the front, apart from that sc around (14 sc)

15. R: 2 inc at the front, apart from that sc around (16 sc)

16. R: 2 inc at the front, apart from that sc around (18 sc)

17. – 18. R: 18 sc

19. R: [sc, dec] 6 x (12 sc) 

20. R: 6 dec

Cut yarn and sew leg to the body 

Tail

1. R: 6 sc into magic ring

2. R: 6 inc (12 sc)

3. R: 12 sc

4. R: 6 dec

Cut yarn and sew tail to the body
