In the picture you see on the left they aren’t even there, but of course there is no real dragon without wings. So today I show you how to crochet a pair of nice and large wings for your toothless. You can fasten them in two ways. Either you crochet them directly to the body or you sew them on when finished. In this case you can choose absolutely freely, because the wings are quite huge and not stuffed with any filling, they cannot cause any harm to children when the become loose.

But lets stop talking and start crocheting:

  1. R: Crochet 8 sc directly to the back of your dragon. Count 10 rounds down from the head in order to find the hight where you should start. Do 4 sc upwords, turn your work by 180 degrees and do 4 sc back into the very same stitches, so you’ll get a very flat round. If you don’t want to crochet the wings directly to the body, start with 8 chain stitches, which you connect to a ring with a sling stitch.
  2. R: 8 sc
  3. R: 3 sc into next stitch, 2 sc, 2 x 3 sc into next stitch, 2 sc, 3 sc into next stitch (16 sc)
  4. R: 2 x 3 sc into next stitch, 6 sc, 2 x 3 sc into next stitch, 6 sc (24 sc)
  5. R: 2 sc, 2 x 3 sc into next stitch, 10 sc, 2 dec, 6 sc (26 sc)
  6. R: 2 sc, 2 x 3 sc into next stitch, 11 sc, 2 dec, 7 sc (28 sc)
  7. R: 4 sc, 2 x 3 sc into next stitch, 12 sc, 2 dec, 6 sc (30 sc

8 R: 6 sc, 2 x 3 sc into next stitch, 12 sc, 2 dec, 6 sc (32 sc)

  1. R: 24 sc, 2 dec, 4 sc, (30 sc)
  2. R: 23 sc, 2 dec, 3 sc (28 sc)
  3. R: 22 sc, 2 dec, 2 sc (26 sc)
  4. R: 21 sc, 2 dec, sc (24 sc)
  5. R: 20 sc, 2 dec (22 sc)
  6. R: dec, 18 sc, dec (20 sc)
  7. R: dec, 16 sc, dec (18 sc)
  8. R: dec, 14 sc, dec (16 sc)
  9. R: dec, 12 sc, 2 dec (14 sc)
  10. R: [5 sc, dec] 2x (12 sc)
  11. R: 12 sc
  12. R: [4 sc, dec] 2x (10 sc)
  13. R: 10 sc
  14. R: [3 sc, dec] 2x (8 sc)
  15. R: 8 sc
  16. R: [2 sc, dec] 2x (6 sc)
  17. R: 6 sc
  18. R: [sc, dec] 2 x (4 sc)

Cut yarn and sew up the ends. The other wing is crocheted in the same way starting Parallel to the first one. If you decided to sew the wings to the body, this is what you should do when finished with both wings. Make sure they end up in Parallel to each other.
